04.Basil Cooray

Description

A contemporary representational artist who’s medium of choice is water colour and oil, Basil isinspired by rural Sri Lanka for his subject matter. His paintings depict a lingering, almost shadow likebeauty.

Basil attributes his basic academic education of fine art to the masters Douglas Paul, Dominique Cyril and Stanley Abeysinghe. In 2002, he received his advanced academic education at the VAFA.

This artist secured second place for his painting in SPECULO – National Painting and Visual Art Exhibition 2017, conducted by Srilankan Airlines.

Today, his artistic masterpieces adorn the President’s House, the Hatton National Bank, the Sri Lanka Embassy in South Africa and is a part of many discerning collections, both in Sri Lanka and abroad.
